This weekend, Bruce travelled down to cambridge with Lara, Adam and Fraser for the first National League Finals. They had a fantastic weekend with some excellent results.
Fraser and Adam came first in League 2 boys 9-16 syncro.
Fraser came 2nd in League 1 boys 9-12 trampolining and 4th in Leauge 1 boys 9-14 DMT
Adam came 2nd in League 1 boys 13-14 trampolining and 2nd and League 2 boys 13-14 DMT
Lara came 8th in League 1 Ladies 17-18 after an unfortunate final where she touched the end deck.
Overall it was a great weekend for all. Well done everyone.
For the last couple of months we have been running a christmas hamper competition to raise funds for the club. It was only £1 per entry to win this massive amazing hamper. Hamper and entry forms were are at Musselburgh Sports Centre. and we had over 250 people enter. The winning entry was selected on Monday 8th December and the winner was informed. Congratulations.
This Saturday saw the annual East Lothian Trampoline Competition being held in Musselburgh Sports Centre. As always this was a great day for all the gymnasts, both recreational and club.
The competition was split into 3 categories. DMT, Recreational Trampolining and Club Trampolining.
The recreational kids from the classes that Lara and Kyle teach all had a great time with the majority of them getting a medal. This competition was also a great opportunity for the recreational level gymnasts to see the standard that the clubs are working at to give them something to work towards.
Two Foot Higher had an amazingly high 83% attendance into the competition which would have been over 90% if we didnt need to use people as officials. Most of the gymnasts were trying out new routines and passes in preparation for next years competitions and they all performed amazingly.
The club also had a tombola stall to try and rais some money to go towards new equipment. This was a massive success with everything being won by around midday. Thanks to everyone who donated to the stall and to Susan and Natasha for running the stall.
We would like to thank all of the Judges, coaches and helpers for giving up their time to make the competition run smoothly.
This weekend Kyle attanded A DMT coaching course to attain his SCC qualifcation which was run by Tob Eager and Phil Dodson. These are 2 of the head DMT coaches for Great Britain. Kyle was accompanied by Lara and Natasha who were kind enough to give up their weekend to be gymnasts for the course. The 3 of them had an amazing time. Not only did Kyle pass his exams (Both Practical and 95% on the theory) but both girls got some very valuable time on the DMT working very hard to perform moves that were asked of them. Both of them attampted things that they had never done before. Lara done a Rudi mount with double back piked dismount and Natasha started working on double front mounts in preperation for half-outs. This course was a creat opportunity for both the gymnasts and the coaches to spend time working with Toby and Phil. Thank you for making the trip up to run the course.
Toby was impressed with all of the gymnasts over the weekend but the biggest compliment came when he told Lara that she should have been at World Age Groups this year as she would have blown everyone else out of the water.
We would also like to thank John Wills from Banchory TC for hosting the course this weekend. As always it was a pleasure being up in your wonderful part of the country.
This weeked, the 2014 Scottish National Championships took place in Perth. Only the top competitiors in the country from each level qualified to take part in this competition, of which Two Foot Higher had 11 qualifiers, some of whom were competing in both Trampolining and DMT which made the total of 16 entries for the club. The day was a huge success all round but it was also a massive success for the club. Everyone competes fantastically, gaining a number of medals and trophies.
Scottish gymnastics said:
"The NDP 8 category title was won by Lara Craig delivering strong flights to score 123.765...In the Double Mini Tramp (DMT) event Natasha Hoffman (Two Foot Higher) [has] been crowned 2014 Scottish Champion. Natasha won the Elite women's 13/14 year old category delivering a wonderful pass to take the title with a score of 62.000. There was joy for Two Foot Higher TC who claimed both Elite category winners, Fraser McLeod taking the men's title and Natasha Hoffman winning the women's"
There was even more joy for the club as we won several other national championship titles for other categories. Every person from Two Foot Higher that qualified for DMT at nationals won their category! What an achievement. A full list of the clubs results can be found below:

Wales came in second with 1230 points and Northern Ireland finished third with 390 points.

This years British National Championships were held at the Echo Arena in Leverpool on the 19th-21st September. Fraser Mcleod was the only member of our club to have qualified for this event so he traveled down with his parents and Head Coach Bruce Craig to attend the event.
Fraser competed amazingly well, getting the highest score out of all the competitios in his group for form. Unfortunately, the other boys had passes with slightly higher difficulty which mean Fraser finished the weekend in 3rd place. This is a massive achievement as the new structure has made it much more difficult to even qualify for this event so Fraser should be extremely proud of medaling. The whole club are extremely proud of you!
With the final grading of the year over and done with we now have a completed list of qualifiers for the Scottish National Championships:
Well done everyone for your efforts throught the year and good luck at nationals.
As well as a trial for the Home Nations competition, there was also a DMT grading held in Musselburgh at the weekend. The club had an amazing day overall with every single competitor gaining a medal. The clubs results are as follows:

Samantha Wight - 2nd place
Douglas Brunton - 1st place
Gregor Brunton - 1st place
Adam Souter - 1st place

After the trial on Saturday, Adam and Fraser have been selected to be part of the Syncro team and Adam got a place in the Junior Boys DMT team.
Well done everyone.
The NDP finals were held in the Telford International Centre at the weekend. These are the Equivelant of the British National Championships for people who are competing at level 7 and 8. Two Foot Higher only had 1 qualifier this year.
The first round was held on the Saturday with Kyle competing at NDP 7 DMT 17+ level. Kyle completed 4 nice passes with all of them landing in the box with minimal deductions. After the first round Kyle was sitting in 1st place.
The finals were on Sunday morning. These consisted of 2 passes which could be repeats of any from the first round. Kyle Landed both his passes but not quite as neatly as the day before which resulted in him droping into 2nd place and winning the silver medal.
This is a massive achievement to come second in Britain for that group. Well Done!!!
We would also like to say a massive congratulations to all of the Scottish Gymnasts who made it to the finals. Out of only 8 qualifiers, we came home with 6 medals. You all done Scotland Proud. The gymnasts who made it were:

This weekend Bruce, Kyle Lara, Hamish, Fraser and Adam travelled down to Newcastle for the final Spring Event of the year. This time it was held at Northumbria University Sport Central. Again the club had an absolutely fantastic weekend. Out of the 5 gymnasts entered in 8 different events, we managed to bring home a total of 8 medals as every gymnast done well enough to make it onto the podium. The results were as follows:
|Lara||Syncro Trampolining||NDP 8||1st||Gold|
This weekend Bruce, Kyle and Fraser travelled down to Coventry to take part in the Third Spring event of the year held at the Ricoh Arena accompanied by Fraser's parents. It was a long drive but completely worth it as the club had a fantastic weekend.
Being Fraser's first ever british competition, he was a bit nervous but he completed all of his Trampoline routines on the Saturday and came 4th at level 8. On the Sunday he competed DMT at elite level and despite injuring his knee, completed 4 clean passes. He came 1st in his age category winning a big Gold medal.
Kyle competed in DMT on the Saturday at level 7. He completed all 4 passes and also managed to come 1st.
This was an excellent result for the gymnasts and the club only having 2 entrants and coming away with 2 gold medals. Well done to you both!!
We would also like the thank Steven and Julie, Fraser's parents for driving all the way. Much appreciated.
Just the other day the website hit counter clocked over the 100000 mark. This is fantastic for us and although most of the hits are likely advertising companies, we would like to think that people are interested in the posts that we put here and enjoy reading the content. Here's to the next 100000!

To continue the busy weekend, 8 members of the club travelled up to Banchory for a DMT grading. We had 6 gymnasts entered into the competition and everyone performed amazingly on the day. Out of the 6 entries we ended the day with 5 gold medals and 1 silver. This was an excellent result.
Two Foot Higher took part in the annual East Lothian Gymnastics Development Forum Showcase in Musselburgh Sports Centre on this weekend (Saturday 22nd March).
We had a fantastic turnout of gymnasts showing off their amazing skills on both the trampolines and the DMT. Everyone performed really well and got fantastic reactions from the crowd.
The club also were presented with an award for the best use of apparatus. The awards were voted for by an impartial group of people who watched all of the performances of the day. We are very proud to get this award. We always try to do something fun and keep the display interesting.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to the organisers, coaches and parents who volunteered throughout the day. This event would be possible without your help.
If anyone has any pictures of the day, we would love to have them up here. If you would like to send them to me please email them to:

A couple of weeks ago our senior coach, Kyle, was approached by a T.V. company and asked to be a coach/consultant for an episode of new show that is going to be on the BBC. He spent a couple of days coaching one of the stars of the show some trampolining then attended the filming of the episode. This was a great experience and a brilliant opportunity for him. At the moment no more information can be given out but closer to the time we will let you know when the show will be aired on the T.V.
Everyone at the club would like to say a huge congratulations to Kirsty and wish her the best of luck for her new job. Unfortunately Kirsty's new job is in Manchester which means she will no longer be training with us. Apparently its too far to travel for training sessions. It has been an absolite pleasure having you as part of the club and you are always welcome to come down for a bounce when you are back in Edinburgh.
This saturday we had 9 competitiors entered into the first full Scottish grading since the introduction of the new competition structure. All the gymnasts performed very well despite the difficulties of this new scructure and we managed a haul of 8 medals in total. The results were:
|Lara||NDP8 17-18yrs Ladies||1st*|
|Fraser||NDP8 11-12yrs Boys||1st*|
|Hamish||NDP7 15-16yrs Boys||2nd|
|Catherine||NDP6 17+yrs Ladies||2nd|
|Adam||NDP6 13-14yrs Boys||1st*|
|Kayleigh||ASM G 15+yrs Ladies||8th|
|Samantha||ASM G 11-12yrs Girls||19th|
|Connor||ASM G 6-10yrs Boys||5th|
|Rory||ASM G 6-10yrs Boys||3rd|
(* denotes the gymnasts who qualified for Scottish National Championships)
|Fraser||Elite 11-12 yrs Boys||1st|
|Adam||NDP7 13-14yrs Boys||1st|
We would also like to say a massive thankyou to Bruce Craig and Tina Mackinnon for volunteering as judges.
The first SG grading of the year was held at Lasswade on Saturday. It was a very small event as it was only for NDP 5 & 6 in Trampolining to allow people to try to qualify up into the 7, 8 or Elite categories. It was also open to NDP 3-6 for DMT.
We only had 2 competitiors in the competition, Fraser who was competing in both Trampolining and DMT, and Adam who was doing DMT. We had a very successful day with both boys qualifying out of NDP 6 and winning gold medals. Fraser and Adam were the only competitiors in the entire competition who managed to gain the qualifying scores. This is a massive achievement and just shows how hard this new structure is going to be. This was also the boys first time using the new style DMT but they managed to adapt very quickly and performed excellent passes.
Well done to you both!
