We only had 4 gymnasts competing this year due to a number moving up to Performnace level and competing at the Spring Series competitions. It was an amazing competition for TFH and for Scotland with all the gymnasts performing really really well.

For the 3rd year in a row Scotland won the DMT trophy!!! We are untouchable!!!

Spring Series 1

Telford: 27th - 29th April

Well.... This weekend was the first Spring Series competition of 2018 and what a competition is was. We had 9 gymnasts competing over the 2 days, 7 of whom it was their first time ever competing at a competition of this size and level.

They had all been training hard over the last 6 months to prepare for this massive step up to NDP performance / FIG levels and boy did that hard work pay off this weekend.

Everyone was absolutely fantastic and even though a couple of routines did not go exactly to plan, Two Foot Higher definitely made an entrance onto the British circuit with style. Everyone competed routines that they had never competed before and there were also a lot of new skills within those routines. It was a massive step up from previous competitions and everyone done themselves and the club proud.

European Championships

12th - 15th April

Last week (Friday and  Sunday) Fraser competed at the 25th European Championships for trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline in Baku, Azerbaijan as a member of the British Gymnastics team.

He competed in his first European Championships in the Junior Boys Age Group in the discipline of Double Mini-Trampoline, alongside 2 of his British team mates Ryan Devine from Northern Ireland and Jamie Gibney of LIverpool.

In a field of 21 boys, Fraser got off to a good start in his first routine scoring a massive 36.0, which was the highest score of the round leaving him in 1st place.

In his second preliminary routine he finished up with a personal 2 round best score for an international competition of 69.2 resulting in Fraser progressing to the final in 7th place (top 8 progressing to the final).

His team mate Ryan Devine also progressed to the final in 6th place.

In the final, Fraser completed two further routines to end in a creditable 5th place. His team mate succeeded in winning the competition following a few mistakes from the favourites from Russia and Portugal.

Earlier in the week the 3 British Boys ended up in 4th place in the Team Competition being narrowly beaten by Portugal who claimed the Bronze position ahead of Spain (2nd) and Russia (1st)

This represents another great performance from Fraser who is now aiming to compete in the 2018 World Age Group Championships which are scheduled in St Petersburg, Russia, later in the year (November).

This will be his second year in the 15-16 Age Group following his creditable 6th place obtained in the 25th World Age Group Championships for trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline in Sofia, Bulgaria, held in November 2017.

ELGDF Showcase

24th March

This Saturday was the annual East Lothian Gymnastics Development Forum Showcase. We were the only Trampoline club to take part again this year and we put on displays on both the Trampolines and the DMT.

This year was even bigger and better than last year with more gymnasts bouncing higher and performing bigger skills than ever before. We had everything from single, double and even triple somersaults on the trampolines and DMT. The crowds seemed very impressed as the cheers were really really loud.

As always we really enjoyed taking part in this event as everyone who does helps raise money towards improving gymnastics and trampolining within East Lothian.

Regional Team Finals Qualifier

17th March

This Saturday was the qualifier for Regional Team Finals. The competition was held at Bells Sports Centre in Perth and was for all the gymnasts who had gained the qualifying score at either of the previous competitions so far. We had quite a number of gymnasts competing across Trampolining and DMT. Only the top 2 gymnasts in each category get to go through to compete at RTFs as part of the Scotland team.
